Issue/Introduction

Symptoms :

  • The test recovery for all the recovery plans fails at the "Create writable storage snapshot" step as can be seen below

4. Create writable storage snapshot    Error
             - An error occurred during host configuration: OpaqueNetworkMgr IPC disabled.    2026-04-09 10:05:30 (UTC 0)    2026-04-09 10:05:43 (UTC 0)    00:00:13
4.1. Protection Group Test-SRM-RP-Plan  Success    2026-04-09 10:05:30 (UTC 0)    2026-04-09 10:05:30 (UTC 0)    00:00:00
4.2. Test-SRM   Error
             - An error occurred during host configuration: OpaqueNetworkMgr IPC disabled.    2026-04-09 10:05:43 (UTC 0)    2026-04-09 10:05:43 (UTC 0)    00:00:00
4.2.1. Configure storage    Error
             - An error occurred during host configuration: OpaqueNetworkMgr IPC disabled.    2026-04-09 10:05:43 (UTC 0)    2026-04-09 10:05:43 (UTC 0)    00:00:00

  • The "OpaqueNetworkMgr IPC disabled" message indicates that the host’s internal process for managing Opaque Networks (logical switches managed by NSX-T/V) is unable to process requests

  • NSX is no longer in use and it is already decommissioned.

Environment

VMware Live Recovery 9.0.X

Cause

The root cause is an incorrect network mapping within VLR sire pair.

  • The existing network mapping incorrectly directs the virtual machines to connect to an Opaque Network (e.g., Test-NSX-Net-10.#.#..#) on the Disaster Recovery (DR) site.

  • This network is obsolete, as NSX has been decommissioned, and consequently, no hosts are actively connected to it.

  • The absence of an active host connection on the mapped network leads to the "OpaqueNetworkMgr IPC disabled" error during the configuration phase of the test recovery.

Resolution

The issue is resolved by updating the VLR network mappings for the site pair.

  • The mapping must be corrected to point to the appropriate DVS (Distributed Virtual Switch) port group on both the Data Center (DC) and Disaster Recovery (DR) VLR appliances.

Refer below KB and Techdocs to update the VLR Network mapping for VLR site pair.
