Issue/Introduction

Users of the Automic Web Interface (AWI) may experience the following symptoms:

  • Opening a specific object in a new browser tab causes the interface to hang or display a "connection lost" error message.
  • The issue is reproducible for specific objects but may not affect all objects.
  • AWI logs (uc4-awi.log or uc4-awi.ewu) contain the following warning: [WARN ] ... [com.uc4.ecc.framework.entrypoint.ui.BrowserSessionService] - Received outdated activity event (older than 5s): [Timestamp], using serverTime.
  • Apache Tomcat logs (catalina.log) may show errors such as: org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11Processor.service Error parsing HTTP request header.

Environment

  • Product: Automic Workload Automation
  • Component: Automic Web Interface (AWI)
  • Affected Versions: 24.x (specifically observed in 24.4.2 HF1 and earlier)

Cause

This behavior is caused by a defect (DE185148) in the way the AWI parses object paths when they contain multiple hash characters (#). When an object with multiple hashes in its name or path is opened in a new browser tab, the URL parsing fails, leading to an HTTP 400 error or a session synchronization timeout.

Resolution

Update to one of the following versions or a newer release where the fix is available.

Component: Automic.Web.Interface

Automic Automation Engine 24.4.5 - TBA

Public Title:
Error when opening an object

Public Description:
A problem has been fixed that prevented AWI from opening an object.
