Issue/Introduction

After upgrading the Dell SRDF Storage Replication Adapter (SRA) from version 10.0 to 10.2 and manually restoring the previous configuration, storage device discovery in Site Recovery Manager (SRM) fails with persistent device errors. The SRM and SRA diagnostic logs exhibit discovery failures and capture an undocumented SRDF-specific error code 1058.

Environment

VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) 9.0.2

Dell SRDF Storage Replication Adapter (SRA) 10.0, 10.2

Cause

A configuration incompatibility or corruption occurs when manually applying the legacy 10.0 SRA backup configuration to the newly upgraded 10.2 SRA appliance. This manual restore introduces deprecated parameters or stale metadata that the 10.2 SRA cannot process, causing the SRDF adapter to enter an undefined state during array communication.

Resolution

 

• Revert the SRM and SRA appliances to the pre-upgrade offline snapshots.

• Refresh and restart the appliances to ensure the environment synchronizes correctly on the functional 10.0 version.

• Prior to the next upgrade attempt, consult the vendor (Dell) documentation regarding the supported configuration migration path between SRDF SRA 10.0 and 10.2, as a manual configuration file restore may not be supported.
