Issue/Introduction

Users monitoring custom groups may experience excessive 'noise' in their event views from non-actionable administrative or informational events.

Examples of such events include:

  • "Normal polling has resumed"
  • "Polling has been temporarily reduced due to prior timeouts..."

Environment

All supported DX NetOps Performance Management versions

Resolution

To suppress non-actionable administrative events within a group context, use the Filtered Events View instead of the standard event view.

Steps to Apply Filtering

  1. Add the View: Edit your custom dashboard and add the Filtered Events View to the desired layout.
  2. Configure Filters: Use the view settings to define which events should be displayed based on Event Type and Event Subtype.
  3. Exclude Admin Events: To remove the specific polling-related messages mentioned above, filter out the entire Admin event category.

Important Limitations

  • Granularity: You cannot currently filter individual, specific administrative messages (e.g., only 'Polling reduced'). You must filter out the entire 'Admin' category.
  • Regex/Quick Filters: The Filtered Events View does not support regex-based filtering or permanent quick filters at this time.

Additional Information

For a complete list of filterable categories, refer to the official documentation on Event Types and Subtypes.
