VCF Operations for Networks

Issue/Introduction

Customers require a method within VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle to automate credential synchronization for VCF Operations for Networks (formerly AON) NSX data sources and vIDM/NSX OAuth integrations.

This requirement follows an SDDC Manager-initiated NSX password rotation in VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF).

Currently, the post-password rotation workflows do not automatically complete the synchronization.

Environment

VCF Operations for Networks 6.14

Cause

While SDDC Manager handles the rotation of NSX passwords within VCF environments, there is no native built-in trigger that automatically updates the VCF Operations for Networks data source credentials without manual intervention in Lifecycle Manager.

Resolution

To manage the credential synchronization efficiently, utilize the following workflow within VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle:

  1. Navigate to Locker > Passwords and add the new NSX credentials that were rotated by SDDC Manager.

  2. Navigate to the Environments tab.

  3. Select the VCF Operations for Networks environment.

  4. Execute the Change Password Day-2 action specifically for the Data Source password.

Notes:

  1. Aria Suite Lifecycle supports a bulk update feature for data source passwords to reduce manual effort across multiple data sources
    .
  2. Additionally, vIDM and NSX OAuth integrations typically require manual remediation following a rotation if the automated VCF sync does not complete successfully.
