Issue/Introduction

Users requiring Snowflake Key-Pair authentication in Test Data Manager (TDM) may find that older versions of TDM Portal do not support this authentication method.

Environment

  • Test Data Manager (TDM) Portal versions prior to 5.0.0.12
  • Fast Data Masker (FDM) versions prior to 4.11.2029.0
  • Target Database: Snowflake

Cause

Key-Pair authentication for Snowflake is an enhancement that requires specific patch builds for both the TDM Portal and the FDM engine to function correctly.

Resolution

To enable Snowflake Key-Pair authentication, you must upgrade TDM Portal and FDM to the following minimum patch versions (or later):

Required Components:

  1. TDM Portal: Version 5.0.0.12
  2. Fast Data Masker (FDM): Version 4.11.2029.0

Upgrade Steps:

  1. Download Patches: Access the Broadcom Support Portal or contact Support to obtain the specific builds listed above.
  2. Install TDM Portal Patch: Follow standard procedures to apply the 5.0.0.12 patch to your TDM Portal instance.
  3. Install FDM Patch: Update the FDM executable and supporting libraries to version 4.11.2029.0 on the machines where masking jobs are executed.
  4. Configure Connection: In TDM Portal, update your Snowflake connection profile to use the Key-Pair authentication parameters provided by your Snowflake administrator.
  5. Validation: Test the connection in both the Portal and FDM to ensure the authentication is successful.
