XCOM: Dependent module libcpic.a could not be loaded.

Issue/Introduction

Noticed the following error messages in the system log:

System error: A file or directory in the path name does not exist.
Cannot load program xcomtp because of the following errors:
Dependent module libcpic.a(shr.o) could not be loaded.
Cannot load module libcpic.a(shr.o)

Environment

XCOM r11.6 for AIX

Cause

The value of parameter PROTOCOL= is set incorrectly.

Resolution

Set parameter in the xcom.glb to PROTOCOL=TCPIP and stop and start the xcomd daemon for it to take effect. 

Additional Information

Program libcpic.a is related to the SNA protocol. If the value of PROTOCOL= in the xcom.glb was set to SNA and there is no SNA package being used with XCOM on the system then those messages can result.
