When upgrading VMware Aria Operations via Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager (vRSLCM), the process fails with a 502 Proxy Error. The following error messages are observed in the logs or user interface:
com.vmware.vrealize.lcm.plugin.common.vrops.exceptions.UpgradeException: 502 Proxy ErrorError reading from remote server at com.vmware.vrealize.lcm.plugin.core.vrops.tasks.InstallvROpsProductUpgradePakTask.executeIf the upgrade is retried, it may fail with a follow-up error indicating a missing Product PAK file: Product PAK file /data/vm-config/symlinkdir/.../vRealize_Operations_Manager_With_CP-[version].pak not found
Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager 8.18.x
Aria Operations 8.18.x
This issue typically occurs due to one of the following root causes:
' vcops-photon-apache.conf.bak') in /usr/lib/vmware-vcopssuite/utilities/conf/../data/vm-config/symlinkdir/ directory on the Aria Suite Lifecycle appliance.Follow these steps in order to resolve the upgrade failure:
Check the Aria Operations Admin UI under the Software Upgrade tab. If the progress indicates 14/14 steps completed, the upgrade was successful on the product side. In this case, you may safely ignore the error reported in Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager.
If the upgrade is genuinely stuck, check for and remove invalid configuration backup files.
Check the /usr/lib/vmware-vcopssuite/utilities/conf/ directory for files with leading spaces or unusual extensions and remove them.
On the Aria Suite Lifecycle appliance, identify and remove stale symbolic links related to the upgrade task.
This command cannot be undone.
Verify every parameter before running. Identify the specific stale link within /data/vm-config/symlinkdir/ and delete it.
