ESXi host "Enter maintenance mode" task fails with error "The task was canceled by a user"

Issue/Introduction

• The operation to place an ESXi host into maintenance mode from vSphere Client UI, the following error is displayed.
  
  The task was canceled by a user
  
  
• The "Enter maintenance mode" task fails and is canceled, with the following output appearing in the vpxd.log:

  Note: The example above shows a case where the task was canceled by Cisco HyperFlex (Springpath-########-##).

Cause

The "Enter maintenance mode" task was canceled by a third-party software.

Resolution

Cisco HyperFlex (Springpath) is one of third party log examples.
Contact the third-party software vendor for inquiries regarding the specific reason the task was canceled or for further details about the third-party software's behavior.
