Issue/Introduction

During an Instructor Led Training (ILT) session, use the VMware Lab Platform Instructor Console to redeploy or reset a student lab.

Prerequisites:

  • Instructor role assigned by an Administrator
  • Active class session with enrolled students
  • Access: Instructor Interface

Resolution

Warning: Redeploying restores the lab to its original state, discarding all student changes.

Follow these steps to redeploy or reset a student lab:

  1. Log In to the Instructor Interface
    1. Open your browser and navigate to your organization's VMware Lab Platform URL.
      • Example: labplatform.broadcom.com/eduilt/instructor/{class_id}
    2. Enter your Organization name and instructor credentials, then click Continue.
  2. Open the Instructor Console and Locate the Student
    1. After logging in, you will land on the Instructor Dashboard.
    2. Click on your active class to open the Entitlements view (student tile roster).
    3. Locate the student's tile and click the ⋮ vertical ellipsis menu.
    4. Select Explore Console in New Tab.
  3. Redeploy the Lab from the Student Console
    1. A new tab opens showing the student's active lab console.
    2. In the top-right corner, click the ⋮ vertical ellipsis menu.
    3. Select Redeploy from the dropdown.
    4. Confirm the action when prompted. The lab will begin rebuilding immediately.
  4. Wait for Redeployment to Complete
    1. The lab shuts down and rebuilds from scratch. This takes 30–40 minutes.
    2. Monitor the student tile status from the Instructor Console.
    3. Once complete, the lab returns to its original initial state and the student can resume.
