Issue/Introduction

With the HOSTMSG primitive being deprecated in release 3.0, what method should be used to display messages on a local system console ?

Environment

Release: VMOPER55400-3.1-VM:Operator
Component:

Resolution

The replacement for the RSCS-based Host/Node support for CA VM Operator systems interacting with each other is Remote CA VM:Operator Support: RVS :

Using RVS enables any node to issue commands or route messages to any other RVS node.

As RVS is a peer to peer network, the concept of a ‘host’ or a ‘node’ no longer exists.

Replace LOGTABLE entries that used the HOST action keyword to route a matching message to the defined host system with the new REMOTE nodeid record where nodeid is the RVS node name of the VM:Operator system to which the message should be routed.
