Issue/Introduction

When opening multiple sessions in the Automation Point Remote Viewer, each window appears as a standalone pop-up. Users may expect or prefer to have all active sessions contained within a single application frame or tabbed interface.

Environment

  • Product:   Automation Point
  • Component: Remote Viewer / Remote Manager
  • Operating System: Windows Server

Cause

This behavior is by design. The Remote Viewer is engineered to support "War room" scenarios where different monitoring criteria or sessions can be displayed simultaneously across multiple monitors or independent windows. This modularity allows for highly customized desktop layouts that can be saved and reloaded.

Resolution

There are two primary ways to manage this design feature based on your requirements:

1. Use the Console Manager

If your technical requirement is to view and manage multiple sessions within a single application frame, it is recommended to use the Console Manager instead of the Remote Viewer. The Console Manager provides a unified interface for session interaction.

2. Save Remote Viewer Layouts

If you prefer to continue using the Remote Viewer but want to manage the multiple windows more efficiently:

  1. Open the required sessions and arrange the windows on your desktop (or across multiple monitors) as desired.
  2. In the Remote Viewer, use the Save Layout feature to preserve this specific arrangement.
  3. Loading the saved layout will automatically restore all sessions to their previously defined positions, reducing the effort needed to manage individual pop-ups manually.
