This article explains how vCenter Server alarms work on newly added objects.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server

Resolution

Alarms configured for parent objects will be valid for newly added child object.

For example, if you create an alarm targeting all the Clusters on a specified Datacenter, a newly added cluster on the Datacenter will be also targeted by the alarm.
