Issue/Introduction

Trying to install XCOM for Windows 12.0 on Windows server 2025, but during the installation the process stops and crashes.

An XCOM service was created but fails to start with message:

Windows could not start the XCOMD CA XCOM Scheduler service
on Local Computer. For more information review the System Event
Log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer
to service-specific error code 650.

Environment

XCOM™ Data Transport® for Windows 12.0

Resolution

The user was able to resolve the problem after uninstall and new install as follows:

For the original installation even though java.exe was in the PATH and "java -version" reported 1.8 the installation crashed.
By explicitly providing the java.exe path using the LAX_VM option the installation was able to complete successfully i.e.
XCOM_12_0_23053.exe LAX_VM "path_to_java.exe"

Additional Information

To check the installation status review the installation log file created in directory "%XCOM_HOME%\Uninstaller_R120SP00\Logs" ("C:\Program Files\CA\XCOM\Uninstaller_R120SP00\Logs").
There may also be a file xcominstaller.log created under the %TEMP% directory.
