Issue/Introduction

  • After deployment of a VCF 9 instance there is a need to change the FQDN entered for a management appliance such as SDDC Manager or vCenter or ESX hosts.
  • The FQDN is changed and the environment no longer function as designed.
  • Connectivity of the appliance is lost and cannot be recovered.

Environment

VCF 9

Cause

  • The automation used within VCF 9 to create the constructs of the Management domain rely on FQDN.
  • Once the FQDN is entered and the deployment of the management appliances is completed**,** certificates are issued based on the entered FQDN.

Resolution

  • There is no supported method to change or modify the FQDN of the management appliances deployed in the management domain.
  • The change requires a complete redeployment of the VCF 9 instance.
