Issue/Introduction

  • When performing an inventory sync for VMware Aria Operations for Networks (formerly vRealize Network Insight) within VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle (vRLCM), the workflow fails. The following error is observed in the vRLCM request details:

com.vmware.vrealize.lcm.plugin.core.vrni.common.exception.VrniImportException: Error occurred when getting CSRF token. Check IP Address, platform username and password for platform with IP address [IP_ADDRESS].

Environment

  • Product: VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle (vRLCM)

  • Component: VMware Aria Operations for Networks (vRNI)

Cause

  • The inventory sync failure is caused by an issue with the SSL certificates on the VMware Aria Operations for Networks appliance. vRLCM is unable to establish a secure connection to retrieve the required CSRF token due to the existing certificate configuration.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, replace the current certificates on the VMware Aria Operations for Networks appliance with self-signed certificates:

  1. Log in to the VMware Aria Operations for Networks CLI or UI.

  2. Navigate to the certificate management section and revert or change the appliance certificates to self-signed.

  3. Once the change is applied, return to VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle.

  4. Retry the Inventory Sync for the affected environment.

  5. Verify the sync completes successfully and proceed with any pending upgrades.
