Error: "VDC [###] is participating in VDC Groups [###]. Remove the VDC from the VDC Group(s) and try again" when trying to remove an Org VDC which is part of a Datacenter Group.

Issue/Introduction

• Unable to remove an Org VDC(OVDC) from Data Center Group in VMware Cloud Director .
• Delete failed with the following error message:

VDC [####] is participating in VDC Groups [###]. Remove the VDC from the VDC Group(s) and try again.

• OVDC being deleted is the last OVDC in the Data Center Group.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.6.x

Cause

The error is displayed as OVDC being deleted is the last participating VDC in the Data Center Group.

Resolution

• To resolve the issue delete the Data Center Group first and then delete the OVDC as per the steps below:
  
  
  1. From the tenant portal, click Networking and then click the Data Center Groups tab.
     The list of data center groups appears.
  2. Click the data center group that needs to be deleted.
  3. Click Delete to remove the data center group.
  4. Verify the data center group is removed successfully.
  5. Follow the steps in Delete an Organization Virtual Data Center From VMware Cloud Director to remove the OVDC.
