Issue/Introduction

This article provides instructions for managing and rotating passwords for components within VMware Cloud Foundation 9.x, including SDDC Manager and ESXi hosts.

Environment

VCF Operations 9.0.x

Cause

Following components password can be rotated Using SDDC Manager:

  • vSphere ESX
  • NSXT Manager
  • Platform Service Controller (PSC)
  •  vCenter Server

Resolution

Note: Plan a maintenance window to avoid service interruptions if you are rotating passwords for multiple accounts.

Procedure: Rotating Passwords via SDDC Manager

Password rotation in VCF 9.x is primarily handled through the SDDC Manager interface.

  1. Log in to the SDDC Manager UI using an account with Administrator privileges.
  2. In the left navigation pane, select Security > Password Management.

  3. On the Password Management page, locate the component or account you wish to update.

  4. Click the Rotate Password button for the selected account.



  5. Monitor the progress in the SDDC Manager taskbar to ensure the rotation completes successfully.
