VCF Operations for Networks

Issue/Introduction

  • Network map and path info not displaying for added Cisco and Palo devices in VCF Operations for Networks.
  • Post adding Cisco Nexus devices and a Palo Alto Panorama  the devices do not appear correctly in the Network Map screen and we are not able to see any Path information in the Network Map screen.
  • The Platform and Collector are XL size, both are healthy and within the VM, flow and network rule capacity.
  • Error in the screen shot below saying that the Network Map has not updated in 5 days, however, the Cisco and Palo Alto devices are showing both the metrics and configuration updates are occurring regularly in the Data Source list.

  • Versions details:
    Palo Alto Networks Panorama- 10.2.7-h8
    Cisco ACI - 5.2(1g)

Environment

VCF Operations for Networks

Cause

  • This is expected behavior as versions added for physical devices are not supported for Network Map.

  • Network Map Supported versions are clearly outlined in the VCF Operations for Networks Supported Products and Versions Technical documentation.

Resolution

Ensure that Network Map Supported versions are clearly outlined in the VCF Operations for Networks Supported Products and Versions

Note:

  • As it stands today, adding support for new physical device models and new OS versions is not in our roadmap.
  • In the  future versions of VCF Operations for Network , instead of adding support for individual device models/versions, we are planning to develop a generic management pack model for any device integrations.
  • This is still work in progress and the first version of that feature focused on some limited use cases.
