Issue/Introduction

The HAF message are not showing up on the Console after upgrading Automation Point    The HAF_Msg window is blank.

Resolution

The issue was resolved by correcting the Windows firewall policies on the server. The customer confirmed that the message blockage was due to internal firewall configurations preventing the HAF messages from being received. Console HAF_MSG Server

Key Troubleshooting Steps Performed

Prior to identifying the firewall as the cause, the following areas were investigated:

  • Hardware Automation Facility (HAF) Configuration: Verified that "Enable Monitoring" was checked under Configuration Manager > Expert Interface > Automation > Events Interface > HAF.
  • Missing HAF Files: Checked for the existence of required .haf files (e.g., hwmcawin_*.haf) in the C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\CA Automation Point\Distrib\ directory.
  • Permissions: Ensured that the .haf files were accessible by the same user account that Automation Point runs under.
  • Diagnostic Reports: Generated an apDiag report to look for errors or missing components.
