2026-03-23T07:07:49.337Z <nsx-edge> systemd-logind #### - -  System is powering down.

  • No Kernel panic logs seen under /var/log/kern.log before the powering off event
  • On the iDRAC, "hardware powering off" could be seen.

Environment

VMware NSX

Cause

"Power key pressed" log event indicates an external hardware-level signal (physical button press or iDRAC power command) rather than a software-initiated shutdown

Resolution

Verify iDRAC/hardware logs for corresponding power events to confirm if the signal was physical or virtual and reach out to Physical Vendor for more investigation.
