Administrators may seek to scale down a VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Automation deployment, such as reducing from a medium deployment to a small single-node deployment, to reclaim environment resources.
VCF 9.x
The VCF Automation architecture and lifecycle management parameters natively support horizontal scaling out and vertical scaling up of allocated resources. Mechanisms to reverse these operations or provision downwards do not exist in the product design.
Scaling down a VCF Automation deployment is strictly not supported.
There are no supported UI operations, API calls, or fleet manager procedures available to reduce the node count or vertically scale down assigned hardware resources once a deployment is provisioned. Administrators must not manually reduce virtual machine configurations or remove nodes from the cluster, as this is untested and will place the environment into an unsupported state.
