Issue/Introduction

Regarding the obfuscation of TCP/IP connection user passwords, are there any differences between r7.0 and r7.2.1?
Have there been any specification changes since r7.1 regarding password obfuscation, such as including more client PC information?

Environment

Release :CA Plex 7.2.1.

Resolution

While the core information used for obfuscation remains unchanged, runtime updates were made in earlier releases to support longer passwords etc.
Please note that the obfuscation routine still includes local computer information to ensure that an obfuscated password cannot be used if copied to another machine.
We recommend referring to the Plex help section, "Run-Time Initialization Files (.INI)," for details on INI deployment across different scenarios.
Regarding the AS/400 server password obfuscation, the local Windows computer information (such as computer name and username) in Plex r7.2.1 remains unchanged from Plex r7.0. While other details are involved, these two are the primary factors in the obfuscation process referenced here.
If the computer name or username does not match the executing environment, the saved password validation will fail, causing the TCP/IP connection configuration screen to appear.
