How to patch ESX and vCenter at VVF 9.0 environment

Issue/Introduction

• In "Fleet Management" of VCF Operations 9.x, lifecycle management and updates for VCF instances are not displayed.
• Either ESX and vCenter were deployed as VVF(VMware vSphere Foundation), or VVF licenses are being used in the environment.
• It is necessary to apply patches in a VVF environment.

Cause

In environments deployed with VVF rather than VCF (VMware Cloud Foundation), or where VVF licenses are applied,
integrated lifecycle management features via Fleet Management are restricted. Therefore, it is necessary to apply patches for each component individually.

Resolution

In a VVF environment, patches must be applied to ESX and vCenter individually.
Download the patches from Download Broadcom products, patches and software, and apply them using the same procedure as vSphere 8.x.
vLCM can be used for applying patches to ESX.
