How to download FMID CABDF11 for Datacom/DB

Issue/Introduction

Encountered a syntax error on the FORFMID statement when attempting to use the SMP/E RECEIVE ORDER command to download FMID CABDF11 (Datacom Support for MetaCOBOL) for Datacom/DB 15.1. How is the best way to download an FMID without the entire product?

Cause

1. Command Misuse: The RECEIVE ORDER command is designed for receiving maintenance (PTFs) and HOLDDATA, not for downloading or installing base product FMIDs. 
2. Product Packaging: FMID CABDF11 is specific to Datacom Support for MetaCOBOL. This component is distributed exclusively within the full Datacom/DB product pax file and is not included in or licensed for Datacom/AD installations. 

Resolution

To resolve this issue and successfully install the FMID, follow these steps:

1. Obtain the Product Pax File: You cannot download a single base FMID via SMP/E commands. You must download the full product pax file (e.g., BD.V15R1.CARS2501.CLASSIC.pax.Z) from the Broadcom Primary Downloads Page for Datacom/DB MVS 15.1 .  
2. Verify Licensing: Ensure your site is licensed for Datacom/DB. Note that MetaCOBOL 15.1 (formerly CA MetaCOBOL+ 1.1) requires specific licensing, especially for non-Datacom customers. 
3. Perform Standard Installation: Follow the standard SMP/E installation process using the downloaded pax file to install FMID CABDF11 into your CSI. 
4. Configuration: Once installed, refer to the Configure Datacom Support for MetaCOBOL documentation for setup steps.
