Issue/Introduction

  • During a VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.x deployment, the installer validation and deployment workflow fails.
  • The installer errors out while checking network connectivity because it detects failure in vmkping using jumbo frames for the vMotion VMkernel adapter and NSX TEPs between ESXi hosts.

  • You already validated that both the vmk and vSwitch are set to 9000 MTU

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 9.x

Cause

This issue can occur due to an IP address conflict on the subnet or a physical network configuration mismatch that blocks jumbo frames, provided the virtual switch and vmk have jumbo frames enabled.

Resolution

  • Make sure that there are no IP conflicts in the environment.
  • Ensure the physical network switches are correctly configured to allow jumbo frames across the ports.
  • Re-run ping tests and when successful restart VCF installer and validate if it passes network validation checks.

If the issue persists even after the manual check of network connectivity for the vmk's/subnet defined in VCF installer, please open a case with Broadcom Support Team for further investigation.
