VM has black console screen in vCenter and ESXi host UI

Issue/Introduction

• VM console goes to a back screen. 
• RDP fails.

Environment

• vCenter Server 7.x
• vCenter Server 8.x 

 

Cause

• No sign of VMware related issues.
• The VM can enter the BIOS and doesn't have an issue until it tries to boot into Windows. 
• The issue is in the Guest OS and not VMware related.

Resolution

Contact Guest OS support to verify registry corruption.
