Is Faver VSAM Backup and Restore utility compatible with Rocket Software Performance Essential?

Sometimes experience S0C6 abends during Export or Restore processing with Faver.

Any release of performance Essential

Any release of Faver VSAM Backup

Cause

Due to the compression processes that Faver utilizes, in some situations when PE+ intercepts the VSAM OPEN process and tries to buffer the VSAM I/O the job may fail with S0C6 abends.

Resolution

In the Faver jobs add the exclusion DD statement from PE+

//PSPOFF   DD  DUMMY

Sample:

//EXPORT    EXEC  PGM=GVEXPORT

//PSPOFF     DD  DUMMY                              --> exclusion statement to turn of PE+ for this step only

Rocket Software Performance Essential is not compatible with Faver EXPORT/RESTORE processes.
