Issue/Introduction

  • When onboarding a Virtual Machine (VM), the old network configuration from vCenter is displayed in Aria Automation instead of the new NSX network.
  • Waiting for data collection to complete (even for several days) does not update the network portgroup information.
  • Changes made to a VM's network in vCenter for an already onboarded VM do not synchronize with Aria Automation.
  • Tagging fails during onboarding as per the procedures in related KB articles (e.g., KB 411705).

Environment

Aria Automation 8.18.x

Cause

This issue is caused by a product defect in VMware Aria Automation. The data collection synchronization process fails to correctly update internal database records when virtual machine network attachment modifications are performed directly within VMware vSphere.

Resolution

A permanent fix for this issue is scheduled to be included in Aria Automation Patch 5.

Workaround

For environments experiencing this issue before Patch 5 is applied, a custom workflow package is available to manually update the database network entries for discovered VMs. To apply this workaround please open a case with Broadcom Support mentioning this KB.
