Issue/Introduction

SpectroSERVER crashes and fails to start after upgrading DX NetOps Spectrum from version 24․3․3 to 25․4․2 The system indicates the database was not gracefully stopped ․​​​‌​‍

There was no backup performed by OLB yet.

 

SYMPTOMS:

  • SpectroSERVER crashes shortly after an upgrade

  • SpectroSERVER fails to restart

  • Existing database files become corrupted

Environment

any supported Spectrum release

Resolution

Step 1․ STOP SPECTROSERVER

 

Step 2․ REMOVE CORRUPTED DATABASE FILES

Path: $SPECROOT/SS

Command: rm *․ix ․db log․

 

Step 3․ INITIALIZE CATALOG WITH UPGRADE BACKUP

Path: $SPECROOT/SS

Command: ․․/SS-Tools/SSdbload -il <filename>․after․SSdb

EXPECTED: Database initializes with the correct catalog version NOTE: Verify the exact filename created during the upgrade (may be legacy․SSdb)

 

Step 4․ RESTORE MODELS FROM PREVIOUS VERSION

Path: $SPECROOT/SS

Command: ․․/SS-Tools/SSdbload -m <backup_file>․SSdb

EXPECTED: Devices and association data from previous version restore successfully

 

Step 5․ RESTART SPECTROSERVER

EXPECTED: SpectroSERVER starts successfully VERIFY: Monitor the VNM․OUT file for any initialization errors
