Issue/Introduction

  • When running a precheck for the VCF upgrade in the existing environment, we see the warnings below.

Perform Stage - Precheck if hosts within the cluster are in a good state to be updated with the desired software image

vSAN health test 'SCSI controller is VMware certified' reported an issue for cluster 'Cluster'. Check the vSAN health.

vSphere Lifecycle Manager image host hardware device validation (1 errors, O warnings)

PERC H330 Mini Device is incompatible with the cluster's target base image version (ESXi 9.0).

  • SDDC manager UI would show the below warnings.

Environment

  • VMware vSAN 9.0.x
  • VMware SDDC Manager

Cause

  • Broadcom PERC H330 Mini with below PCI IDs is not certified for vSAN 9.x.

Resolution

  • Replace the current HBA with certified controller for vSAN 9.x.

  • List of certified controllers are listed on vSAN I/O Controller - List of controllers

  • Please work with respective hardware vendor for any further assistance.
