Issue/Introduction

  • NSX Manager and NSX Edge is configured to use FQDNs for NTP server synchronization.

  • The IP addresses of the NTP servers have been changed.

  • The DNS records for the NTP servers were updated to point to the new IP addresses.

  • NSX Manager and NSX Edge continues to reference the old NTP IP addresses, resulting in time synchronization failure.

Environment

VMware NSX

Cause

NSX Manager and NSX Edge references the IP address resolved when the service starts.

Resolution

  • To update the referenced IP address, run the restart service ntp command as the admin user.

  • To check the currently referenced IP address, run the ntpq -pn command as the root user.

Additional Information

Refer to the NSX CLI Guide for details on restarting services.
