Issue/Introduction

When attempting to use the DB Load Utility to transport data (unload/load) from Automic Automation Engine version 21 to version 24.4.1, the load process encounters failures. Users may experience the following symptoms:

  • The following error message is generated in the logs: U00021140 Data cannot be loaded because the link to object ''/ USRG' cannot be established.

  • The DB Load Utility crashes after the import process runs.

  • While objects are successfully transferred to the target client, they lose all of their assigned object authorizations and user groups.

Environment

  • Product: CA Automic Workload Automation - Automation Engine

  • Version: 24.4.1
  • Component: DB Load Utility

Cause

This issue occurs due to a bug in the DB Load Utility. During the import process, the utility fails to link the objects to their respective authorizations if the necessary User Groups (such as USRG1, USRG2, USRG3, etc.) do not already exist within the target client.

Resolution

Update to a fixed version listed below or a newer version if available.

Component: Utility

Automic Automation Engine 24.4.4 HF2 - Available

Public Title:
DBLoad ignores Object Authorizations

Public Description:
An issue has been fixed where the DB Load Utility failed to retain object authorizations (User Groups). The utility now correctly parses authorization data, prompts for missing User/UserGroup assignments when necessary, and reliably links the authorizations to the imported objects without error.

Workaround:

To successfully import the transport case without losing object authorizations, you must manually pre-configure the target client:

  1. Identify all User Groups associated with the objects in the source environment (V21).

  2. Manually create these User Groups (e.g., USRG1, USRG2, etc.) in the target client (V24.4.1) prior to initiating the import.

  3. Ensure these newly created groups have the appropriate rights and permissions configured.

  4. Run the DB Load Utility to import the transport case. The objects will now load successfully and retain their authorizations.
