Issue/Introduction

  • A user or administrator wants to increase the default UI session timeout duration.
  • The administrator is unable to find a custom property or configuration setting within the standalone orchestrator to adjust the session idle period.
  • Standard methods for VMware Aria Automation (vRA) do not appear to apply to the standalone orchestrator instance.

Environment

  • VMware Aria Automation Orchestrator (formerly vRealize Orchestrator) 8.x and 9.0
  • Standalone configuration (not managed by vRA)

Cause

There is currently no user-configurable custom property to modify the UI session timeout specifically for the standalone configuration of Aria Automation Orchestrator to increase timeout. This is a known product limitation in current versions.

While VMware Aria Automation 8.x (vRA) supports the SESSION_TIMEOUT_DURATION_MINUTES configuration property Aria Automation Timeout, this does not currently affect the standalone Orchestrator UI.

Resolution

This feature is on the product roadmap and is scheduled to be included in the VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.1 release.

Customers requiring this functionality should plan to upgrade to VCF 9.1 when it becomes available.
