In VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), adding new ESXi hosts to an existing cluster via SDDC Manager fails to progress. The workflow stops at the Prepare Transport Node Collection stage without surfacing a specific error in the SDDC Manager UI.
Key symptoms include:
SDDC Manager task remains in a "Running" state for several hours.
NSX Manager reflects NSX Configuration: Mismatch for existing hosts in the cluster.
Virtual Interfaces (vIFs) or VMs are locked to a Transport Zone not defined in the current TNP.

VMware NSX
The Transport Node Profile (TNP) cannot be applied to the cluster because existing ESXi hosts are associated with a Transport Zone that is not included in the TNP, and active virtual machines are still attached to logical switches within that mismatched Transport Zone.
Log in to the NSX Manager UI.
Navigate to System > Fabric > Nodes > Host Transport Nodes and identify the hosts reporting NSX Configuration: Mismatch.
Identify all Virtual Machines (VMs) currently connected to segments or logical switches associated with the incorrect/legacy Transport Zone.
Migrate the Network Adapter settings for these VMs to a temporary non-NSX port group (e.g., a standard vSwitch or Distributed Switch port group) or a segment within the correct Transport Zone defined in the TNP.
Verify that no "Orphaned" vIFs remain on the host transport nodes.
Once the vIFs are released, the mismatch could be resolved by clicking Mismatch and confirm.
Monitor SDDC Manager; the Prepare Transport Node Collection task should resume and complete automatically within a few minutes.
