Issue/Introduction

  • While attempting to install VMware ESX 9.x on a Dell MX 760c blade server, the installer fails with the following error message:

"No network adapters were detected. Either no network adapters are physically connected to the system, or a suitable driver could not be located. A third party driver may be required."

Environment

ESX 9.x

Cause

The issue occurs because the QLogic 41262 network interface card (NIC) does not support VMware ESX 9.x. No compatible driver for this card is present in the standard ESX 9.x image or the 9.x OEM bundle

Resolution

The PowerEdge MX760c is compatible with ESX 9.x; however, the QLogic 41262 does not support this version of ESX. Identify supported NIC alternatives that are certified for ESX 9.x.
