License key appears in Usage Meter report

Issue/Introduction

In VMware Usage Meter, a license key continues to appear in the usage reports when a license is still actively assigned to assets or products within the metered environment.

Environment

VCF Usage Meter 9.x

Cause

The license key is included in the report because it remains assigned to products or assets. Usage Meter collects data on all assigned licenses during its polling cycles.

Resolution

To ensure a license key is removed from the Usage Meter reports, follow these steps:

1. Identify the products or assets associated with the license key.

2. Unassign the license key from those specific products/assets within your environment.

3. Verify that the license is no longer linked to any active objects.

Note on Reporting Lag: The license will continue to appear in the reports until the end of the month in which it was removed. It will be excluded from the reports starting the following month.
