Issue/Introduction

Attempts to login to Platform and/or Collector nodes for VCF Operations for Networks 9.x with consoleuser and/or support user fail with "Access denied", despite a belief that the passwords supplied are valid.

Environment

VCF Operations for Networks 9.x

Cause

The password being used is either not in compliance with the requirements for passwords for these appliances, or is not the password that was most recently set using the documented method at VMware Cloud Foundation 9.0 - Update Passwords for VMware Cloud Foundation Components

Resolution

In VCF 9.x, users can update their passwords themselves by logging into the VCF Operations console.

Follow the documented method at VMware Cloud Foundation 9.0 - Update Passwords for VMware Cloud Foundation Components to Update Password for each of the consoleuser and support passwords for each of the Platform and Collector node(s) for which you are having difficulty.

NOTE:  Pay special attention to the "common set of requirements across all accounts" referred to for passwords in the documentation above.

Once this has been done, SSH or use the Web Console for each appliance, to test whether or not your updated passwords will allow you to login in each of the appliances that were updated.

If after doing this, you still are receiving "Access denied", open a support case with the VCF Operations for Networks team at Broadcom Support using the instructions at Creating and managing Broadcom cases

Additional Information

Note:  The term "node" is synonymous with the term "appliance" in the context of this article.
