VCF Operations - Unable to update the Supervisor Cluster with "Error processing Content Library" and "Error: malformed Supervisor OVF template name"

Issue/Introduction

Observing error like below and unable to update the Supervisor Cluster.

Error processing Content Library ########-####-####-####-############, Error: malformed Supervisor OVF template name ob-22035671-tkgs-ova-ubuntu-2004-v1.24.11---vmware.1-fips.1-tkg.1.ubuntu.

Checking the WCP logs shows Content Library logs which hint that maybe the incorrect content library is being used for the Supervisor.

As per logs below it appears to advise this is set to https://wp-content.vmware.com/v2/latest/lib.json currently.

Cause

Incorrect Subscription URL confirued in Supervisor Management -> Content Distribution -> Supervisor Images Library:

Resolution

Do not attempt to delete or edit the content library that is assigned with the Supervisor release images. You must unassign the Supervisor release images before you attemp to delete or edit the content library. Use the following DCLI command:

> dcli> com vmware vcenter namespacemanagement lifecycle content libraries unassign --library <libraryId>

 

To decouple Supervisor updates from standard vCenter upgrades and configure them asynchronously, you must subscribe to the dedicated Broadcom content library source. This requires creating a separate, dedicated content library explicitly for Supervisor lifecycle management. A properly configured environment should contain two distinct content libraries like below: 

• vks-library (For VKS Guest Cluster Control Plane/VM Service components)

  • Subscription URL: https://wp-content.vmware.com/v2/latest/lib.json

• supervisor-library (For Supervisor images, assigned to Content Distribution -> Supervisor Images Library in Supervisor Management)

  • Subscription URL: https://wp-content.broadcom.com/supervisor/v1/latest/lib.json
