Issue/Introduction

 

• Mp2Policy promotion fails specifically for Logical Port objects during the migration workflow.

• The system incorrectly identifies certain objects as eligible for promotion, leading to dependency errors involving Logical Switches.

• The customer observes eligible objects in the promotion interface but remains unable to promote them successfully.

• This issue is confirmed to affect NSX-T version 3.X

 

Environment

VMware NSX

Cause

• A known software defect exists where the promotion tool incorrectly marks objects containing an "intentPath" as eligible for promotion.

• The underlying logic fails to filter out these specific objects, resulting in error code 30542 indicating that dependent resource types must be promoted first.

Resolution

• In NSX 3.X Ignore the identified false positive objects and proceed with the upgrade process to 4.X as they will no longer appear as eligible post-upgrade.
• Upgrade to the nsx-impactor-ufo release or subsequent versions where a permanent fix is implemented to ignore objects with an "intentPath".
