Issue/Introduction

  • Restore operation triggered from Commvault is failing with error to open the disks: Set pending cause [Error opening the disks for virtual machine [VM_Name]. Verify that the correct transport mode is selected

  • Hostd logs also suggest that disks creation task/job is initiated but failed to open the disks

Environment

VMware vSAN 8.x

Cause

Issue is caused due to misconfiguration at Commvault level. When CV software on a proxy is re-installed, the restores work for a period of time and then it starts failing again.

Resolution

Involve Commvault vendor for further investigation.
