Issue/Introduction

Modify the Aria Operations rightsizing engine to utilize the %NETRUN metric (representing net CPU execution time) instead of the default Demand-based model.

Symptoms and Keywords:

  • Product: Aria Operations 8.18.5

  • Metrics: %NETRUN, CPU Demand, %USED, Super Metrics

  • Request: Rightsizing based on net execution time

  • Risk: Potential for host-level resource saturation and CPU Ready contention

Environment

VMware Aria Operations 8.18.5

Cause

Aria Operations utilizes CPU Demand as the default sizing authority because it represents the total physical resources required by the VM (including hypervisor I/O and interrupts), whereas %NETRUN is a diagnostic metric that ignores these essential physical resource requirements.

Resolution

The creation of custom capacity models and the validation of non-standard sizing architectures fall outside of Break-Fix Support boundaries.

Please engage Account Team or Professional Services Organization (PSO) to validate the architectural impact of deviating from the Demand-based sizing model.
