Receives message RCS5180 RCS WARNBUFF LIMIT EXCEEDED UTILIZATION IS AT 099 PERCENT
Release: 2.3
Typically, the solution for this situation is to increase the MBUFFS= value to a larger value. The default is MBUFFS=1000. The maximum value is 80,000.
Some information to consider when you increase the MBUFFS value:
If a user does a K D,F or K D,B and creates a display area
with all of his current messages, he effectively adds 1 to the
use count of each message. Now if you leave that display area
around for a long time, you effectively double the number of
messages you are holding on to in the master buffer, since they
are not released until their use count goes to zero.
If several people do this at different times, and or with
different collection sets, it has an additive effect, and
buffer utilization goes up, until they log off or delete the
display area (k e,d or a new command that uses the display area)
You could safely up your MBUFFS count, if you don't want to see
the messages, or you could institute a timeout (autologoff) time that
would automatically log users off if they haven't entered any commands,
or hit enter. There are no displays currently that will tell you how
many buffers an individual user is holding up, or which users are
holding up the most.
There is no standard recommendation for increasing the value and you will experience some minor storage utilization if users are consistently requiring the MBUFFS value to be increased. In today's busier and more active system it is not unusual to increase MBUFFS to 10,000. However, this is usually accompanied by and increase in the following parameters:
AREABUFF= AND BUFFSIZE=
