Issue/Introduction

If a Cisco VIC adapter in your environment has RoCE enabled, an uplink reset causes traffic timeout in a release build and a failure of the adapter with a purple diagnostic screen on a beta build.

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation (VMware Cloud Foundation)
VMware vSphere ESXi (VMware vSphere ESXi)

Cause

The issue occurs because the Cisco VIC adapter firmware does not support uplink resets when RoCE is active.

Resolution

Use separate vmnics for RDMA traffic and non-RDMA traffic to ensure optimal functionality. If a vmnic is configured to enable RoCE, do not issue uplink reset when RDMA traffic is active on it.
