Issue/Introduction

You are unable to open the Spectrum Control Panel (SCP) on the primary server in a test environment ․​​​​‌​‍

 

 

ERROR MESSAGE: "SPC-OCP-10033: Could not connect to the Location Server on [hostname]․"

 

 

Environment

Spectrum 24.3, 25.4
Windows

Resolution

1․ CREATE VBNS FOLDER

       Path: $SPECROOT/custom/
       Under $SPECROOT/custom/, create the VBNS folder

      EXPECTED: The VBNS folder is successfully created


2․ COPY REQUIRED FILES
Copy the following folders and files:

  • $SPECROOT/bin/VBNS/identities (folder)

  • $SPECROOT/bin/VBNS/trustpoints (folder)

  • $SPECROOT/bin/VBNS/namingservice․xml (file)

    TO:
      $SPECROOT/custom/VBNS



    EXPECTED: Files are successfully copied to the custom directory․

     

3․ RESTART SERVICES
    
        Kill the SpectroSERVER process
        Stop processd

        Start processd

     EXPECTED: Services restart cleanly

 

 

4․ VERIFY LOGS  

     Check the NAMINGSERVICE․OUT log (shows correct IOR:xxxxxx line)
     Check the LOCSERVER․OUT log (shows ready).

     EXPECTED: Logs indicate the naming and location services are ready

 

 

5․ RESTORE DATABASE AND LAUNCH  

         Restore the SSdb
         Launch the Spectrum Control Panel (SCP) and start the SpectroSERVER

 

VERIFY SUCCESS:

  • SCP launches successfully without error
