Issue/Introduction

  • vSAN file service appliance gets restarted in every 15 mins following a cache disk replacement on the ESXi host.

  • Same File service VM gets powered off and and powered on in a loop in eam logs and new VM is not being spawned over.

 

Environment

VMware vSAN 8.x

Cause

There is cached data/file which is holding reference to old cache disk causing VM restart issue

Resolution

  • Power off the File Service VM
  • Right-click the VM and select "Delete from Disk" to remove the VM completely
  • The File Service Remediation process will deploy a new File Service VM on to the host after the VM is deleted from the system.
