Issue/Introduction

Cisco Syslog traps display an incorrect severity mapping mismatch in DX NetOps Spectrum․‌‍

ERROR MESSAGE: "ELEMENT_CRITICAL: Memory very high"

SYMPTOMS:

  • Trap severity 4 warning produces an orange major alarm instead of a yellow minor alarm․

  • Sending a trap with severity 0 results in an error․

  • Event 0x210c0e reports an incorrect severity value․

CONTEXT: This occurs when Spectrum processes Syslog traps from Cisco devices and maps them to events․

IMPACT: Alarm severities do not accurately reflect the original Syslog severity․

Environment

DX NetOps Spectrum: 24.3.x, 25.4.x

Cause

A product defect causes a severity mapping mismatch where the Syslog severity translates incorrectly into the Spectrum alarm severity․

Resolution

RELATED RESOURCES:

  • Known Issue: Defect DE183600

KNOWN LIMITATIONS:
