Issue/Introduction

Question:

We need to change the CA OPS/MVS GLOBALBACKUPPROC parameter in the startup init deck. Can the new value become into effect without having to recycle the main task?

Answer:

Yes, you can change the GLOBALBACKUPPROC using the OPSVIEW option 4.1.1 and have this change in the Global Variable Backup procedure available without a recycle of CA OPS/MVS. However, if there is an IPL or OPS/MVS is restarted. OPS will not have the name of the new backup procedure unless the parameter change is also made in the OPSSPA00 member. We recommend making the parameter change in both places.

Additional Information:

Back Up and Restore the SYSCHK1 VSAM File Data

  • Define the required GLOBALBACUP* CA OPS/MVS parameters for the backup process. You must define these parameters within the CA OPS/MVS start-upĀ  procedure (OPSSPA00 by default) to help ensure that the parameters are defined each time CA OPS/MVS initializes.
  • Utilize OPSVIEW option 4.1.1 to set these parameters dynamically if a restart of CA OPS/MVS is not desirable to proceed with this backup configuration.
