Issue/Introduction

  • While updating VCF Automation from version 9.0.1 to 9.0.2, The task fails at Stage 4 Backup data with below Error in the Fleet Management: ERROR Code: LCMVMSP10010

  • In the /var/log/vrlcm/vmware_vrlcm.log  on the Fleet Management appliance errors similar to the following can be seen:
    ERROR - Process failed due to a timeout error, please try again later and update the timeout if necessary
    INFO - Running cleanup
    INFO - Releasing lock if acquired by current host\\n/usr/bin/common.sh: line 692: kill: (423) - No such process
    INFO - Stopped extend lease lock background thread
    INFO - Lock released successfully\\n\",\"running\":false,\"outputValues\":{\"message\":\"Process failed due to a timeout error, please try again later and update the timeout if necessary\",\"vcfa\":{\"status\":{\"description\":\"Process failed due to a timeout error, please try again later and update the timeout if necessary\",\"successful\":false}}},\"completedAt\":\"2026-03-12T16:03:53Z\"}","token":null,"contentLength":-1,"allHeaders":null}

Cause

The Postgres database backup took long time to complete due to lock issue. Due to this Update process failed with a timeout error

Resolution

  1. Manually confirm the Postgres backup job in VCF Automation.
  2. If the last backup job is complete, Click on Retry in the failed update task below the Error LCMVMSP10010
