SAP Edge Integration Cell is unsupported on VMware Cloud Foundation and vSphere based deployments

Issue/Introduction

SAP Edge Integration Cell(aka. EIC) is NOT supported on Openshift, Rancher, or Gardener, when virtualized on VMware Cloud Foundation. EIC is NOT supported on VMware Cloud Foundation, or vSphere based deployments, and, EIC NOT supported on VMware Kubernetes Services (VKS) at this time.

Environment

VMware vSphere Kubernetes Service (VKS)
Openshift, Rancher or SAP Gardener running in a Virtual Machine on VMware vSphere or VMware Cloud Foundation

Cause

VMware has not tested nor validated SAP Edge Integration Cell (EIC) on VMware Cloud Foundation, vSphere based deployments including VKS. VMware has not been granted the opportunity to review or edit SAP Support Note: 7247839 - “Prerequisites for installing SAP Integration Suite Edge Integration Cell”. Thus, VMware has not had the opportunity to develop any knowledge or understanding to effectively respond to any customer support requests on issues that customers may experience running SAP EIC deployed on Openshift, Rancher, or SAP Gardener while virtualized on VMware Cloud Foundation. VMware cannot guarantee that it can meet any customer SLA’s for resolution and will only be able to provide “best effort” support.

Resolution

VMware advises customers running SAP Edge Integration Cell containers on VMware Cloud Foundation or vSphere based deployments to find an alternative deployment method or seek a direct support from SAP.
